The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa

Beneficiaries of the CYPRUS DIGIGAL NOMAD VISA are third country nationals working remotely, either as self-employed persons or as employees of an overseas company.

Successful applicants may secure residency permits for the members of their families.

PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED:
Individuals who meet the above requirements should follow the steps below:

Step 1: Entry in the Republic of Cyprus
• The applicant enters Cyprus with a tourist visa (where necessary).
• Individuals already residing legally in Cyprus, please follow Step 2.
Step 2: Submit an application for a residence permit
• Within 3 months of arrival, the applicant should submit the relevant application at the Civil Registry and Migration Department in Nicosia, to be granted a residence permit, by paying the corresponding fees.
• In case the applicant legally resides in Cyprus under a different status, he/she has the right to submit the relevant application to be granted a residence permit as a Digital Nomad, at the Civil Registry and Migration Department in Nicosia.
• The applicant must state in the application the type of his/her employment, i.e., self-employed or employed for an employer registered abroad, and prove his/her monthly net income.
• The application must be accompanied with all necessary documents, and, during its submission, the biometric data (photograph and fingerprints) will be taken as well as the signature of the applicant.

In case of approval, a residence permit is issued valid for one year and the applicant is notified accordingly. In case of rejection, the applicant will be informed accordingly.
Step 3: Submit an Application for the Renewal of a Residence Permit in Republic
• At least one (1) month before the residence permit’s expiration date, the applicant should apply to the Civil Registry and Migration Department in Nicosia for renewal and pay the corresponding fees.
• The application must be accompanied by all necessary documents and during the application’s submission the biometric data (photograph and fingerprints) will be taken as well as the applicant’s signature.

In case of approval, a residence permit is issued valid for a maximum of two (2) years and the applicant is notified accordingly. In case of rejection, the applicant will be informed accordingly.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR MAIN APPLICANT
1) Copy of valid passport or other travel document with validity of at least three (3) months from the date of the submission of the application.
2) Copy of passport or other travel document page that shows the last entry in the Republic
3) For employees working for a company registered abroad:
• Employment contract of indefinite duration or of at least equal duration to the requested residence permit
• Employer’s confirmation that the applicant can perform his/her duties remotely and that the project / work does not concern activity or provision of services to an employer registered in Cyprus
• Duly stamped copy of the company’s registration certificate abroad, stating the legal name, registered base, activity field and corporate purpose of the company
• information on the status of the applicant in the company.

For self-employment:
o Contract(s) of project or of services with a duration of at least equal to the requested residence permit.
o Confirmation by the applicant that (s)he can perform his duties remotely and that the project does not concern activity or provision of services to a client established in Cyprus.
o Evidence that the applicant has sufficient and stable monthly living resources amounting to at least €3500, after the deduction of contributions and taxes, from:
• proof of salary payment showing the net income and
• bank account (detailed bank statements of the last 6 months that prove the existence of a stable and satisfactory income outside the Republic).

Note 1: The above amount is increased by 20% for the spouse or partner and by 15% for each
child.

Note 2: In cases where there is no proof of net income, an Affirmation is required according to which the applicant will certify that his/her net income, after the deduction of contributions and taxes on the income presented in the submitted documents, is not less than the minimum amount required on the basis of the defined income criteria.

o Original Certificate of Criminal Record from the country of origin (if the applicant resides in a country other than the country of origin, the certificate should be issued from the country of residence).
o Original blood analysis results showing that the applicant does not bear/suffer from HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C and chest x-rays for tuberculosis (TB), duly certified by a specialized Doctor.
o Certificate of Health Insurance for medical care that covers inpatient and outpatient care and transportation of corpse (Plan A).
o Title deed or rental agreement of a house/apartment, duly stamped if valued over €5000.
o Affirmation to which the applicant will commit that (s)he or his/her family members will not provide work or services or project in any way to an employer or clients established in Cyprus.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR SPOUSE
1) Copy of valid passport or other travel document with validity of at least three (3) months from the date of the submission of the application.
2) Copy of passport or other travel document page that shows the last entry in the Republic.
3) Marriage / Civil Union Certificate
4) Original blood analysis results showing that the applicant does not bear/suffer from HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C and chest x-rays for tuberculosis (TB), from a State Hospital of the Republic or duly certified by a specialized Doctor.
5) Original Certificate of Criminal Record from the country of origin (if the applicant resides in a country other than the country of origin, the certificate should be issued from the country of residence).
6) Certificate of Health Insurance for medical care that covers inpatient and outpatient care and transportation of corpse (Plan A).
7) Evidence that the sponsor has sufficient and stable monthly living resources amounting to at least €3500, after the deduction of contributions and taxes, from:
 proof of salary payment showing the net income , and
 bank account (detailed bank statements of the last 6 months that prove the existence of a stable and satisfactory income outside the Republic).

Note: In cases where there is no proof of net income, an Affirmation is required according to which the sponsor will certify that his/her net income, after the deduction of contributions and taxes on the income presented in the submitted documents, is not less than the minimum amount required on the basis of the defined income criteria.

8) Title deed or rental agreement of a house/apartment, duly stamped if valued over €5000.
9) Copy of registration certificate or certificate of attendance from an academic institution in Cyprus or abroad (only in cases of pupils or students).
10) Affirmation to which the applicant will commit that (s)he or his/her family members will not provide work or services or project in any way to an employer or clients established in Cyprus.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR CHILDREN
1) Copy of valid passport or other travel document with validity of at least three (3) months from the date of the submission of the application.
2) Copy of passport or other travel document page that shows the last entry in the Republic.
3) Birth Certificate of the sponsor's child, (apostilled or legalized).
4) Copy of court decision for exclusive parental custody, or affidavit where the other parent agrees to the stay of the minors in the Republic for the proposed duration of stay (where applicable).
5) Original medical examination certificate from the country of origin/residence, showing that the sponsor's family members do not bear/suffer from HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C and Tuberculosis (x-ray). For children under 15 years old no x-ray is required and a Mantoux Skin Test is required instead.
6) Original Certificate of Criminal Record for the sponsor's family members, from the country of origin or the country of residence. For children under the age of sixteen (16) a criminal record is not required.
7) Evidence that the sponsor has sufficient and stable monthly living resources amounting to at least €3500, after the deduction of contributions and taxes, from:
o proof of salary payment showing the net income and
o bank account (detailed bank statements of the last 6 months that prove the existence of a stable and satisfactory income outside the Republic).
